My first 5K

About 2 months ago I had decided that I was going to start to run and be ready to run the 5K at Raspberry Days this year with my family. Every year I watch them come across the finish line a wish that I cold do that. The training has been fun and hard at the same time. Little A is my running partner he love getting outside and riding in the running stroller 3 time a week. At the beginning I was only able to run 1/2 mile. I thought that I would never be able to make it to 3.2 miles. My sister Kim would always tell me that I could do it and to just hang in there. So now for the race. Kim, Ryker, and Lance convinced me to come to the Mendon race this morning with them. There was suppose to be a 2K and I was going to run it just to feel what it is like to be in a race and to prep myself for next weekend. When I got there the lady in charge said that they decided that they were not going to do the 2K anymore. It was 6am and I was not just going to head back home. So I decided that I would and could run the 5k. I was way nervous but it did it. Through the whole race I was slow and steady. I learned many things during this race which should help me out big time next week. I learned that you need to make sure you I-pod is working right, that people that walk and run will still beat you, that the I-pod arm band is in the way (I took it off and tossed it in the weeds during the race, after I had to go and find it), and that Lance is intense (oh wait I already knew that), and last that a 5K is something that I can accomplish. Oh yea I have to add that I ran it in just over 39 minutes. I zoomed in on the bottom picture to read the clock, at the end I was to out of it to even look at the clock.

July 24th weekend!

We had a great weekend full of fun. I love the 24th of July because it is a great time to be with family and to remember all the amazing people who came before us and made Utah the awesome state that it is. Yesterday we went to the Logan parade and to Willow Park for the craft booths (both of which I did not take any pictures of). That evening we had a BBQ at my parent's house. Most of our family was there along with Grandma Pickett, Jen and Jer and their boys. There is never a dual moment when we are all together. While I was down stairs with the kids I found this metallic Silver vet that I wore in 9th grade. I came up wearing it and then Jer wanted to try it on and model it for all of us. Besides Jer modeling we ate great food, the kids played in the water, and we took rides in my mom and dad's UTV.
We finished off the night with what we called the WT (White Trash) fire work show. The fire works were great but the name come from the fact that every child got their clothes wet so they were all in diapers, or grandpa old shirts as dresses. It is all good when you are having fun.
Today we decided to go to Mendon for their parade. Hunter was in the parade with a youth group that he has been picked to be a part of at school called youth 2000. Little A loved the Otter Pop, that he got. I am going to have to get some next time we are at the store.

Ride and House Update

Tonight we headed over to my parents house to take a ride in my parents new UTV. My mom is the one that really wanted so she could get around their Ranch. Little A loved the ride up Providence Canyon. We did not take the camera on the ride so these pictures are after the ride. Little A had the biggest smile on his face the whole time. Thanks mom and dad for the fun ride.
After we went over to the house to see what got done today. The plumber is one of our great friends too and he was able to get some pipes ran and the tubs in. I find it so weird that they put the tubs in so early so they can get nice and dirty. Also last week we finished up the walls to the bonus room. The picture below shows the view from the bonus room.
The roofer was able to get the paper on that goes on before the singles. Below are 2 view of the front of the house and a view of the back. The back view is not great but the neighbors were in their yard so I did not dare go to far into it.
Little A is sticking his head out the kitchen window.

Girls just want to have Fun!!!

This past weekend my mom, sisters, and sister-in-laws headed out for a weekend full of fun with the girls. My mom has always wanted us to do this so she decided to give it to us for mother's days! We started the trip off by headed to get Tonia from Heber we retrieved her from 4 days of Girls Camp. The next day we hit the road. We stopped in Cedar City to eat Lunch and visit SUU. I attended there for my first 2 years of schooling. I love the campus and city I have many great memories there. That night we headed to see Annie at the Tuacahn theater in St. George. It is so beautiful. The bottom picture is the girls after the show. My mom sat next the the Grandma of the Girl that Played Annie.
While we were there we relaxed, shopped, ate a lot of great food, and got massages. Kim came out with her shirt on inside out she was so relaxed. There is the pile of our shopping bags we all have a smaller amount in our checking accounts.
Thanks everyone for the great weekend. A lot of great memories were made. Thanks mom for planning it and for all you do for us all the time!!!

Sleep Over

Little A has had many opportunities to sleep over at my mom or sister's houses, we have had sleep overs at the Ranch, Condo, and Cabin. Last week Little A had his first sleep over at our house where he was the host. We has fun with his little cousin Faith. One of the days Faith was playing with up Jodi's girls were there too. Little A sure loves his cousins. While we had Faith we went to work on our house. Faith's mom always keeps her looking perfect and clean so I had to take a picture of her in some of Little A work clothes. She is so little and cute she is 3 and she fits in Little A clothes which are size 18-24 months.

Pickett Family Reunion

Yesterday was a busy day Little A and I started out by working on the house with my hubby and then headed home for nap time and clean up time. Once Little A woke up the fun began. We went to a wedding shower for my sister in law to be. My hubbies little bro is getting married in Aug. After the shower we headed to the Pickett family Reunion. We almost did not make it seeing that my car's temp was running way high so we drove with the heater on and very slow all the way through the canyon. Luckily I have a great family so my brother drove it home for me. When we got there it was a good time. The little Kids played in the water while the adults got to catch up on the old times. Here are some random pictures from the day. Little A was pulling this face all day. My Uncle B did a little presentation on what a history is and why it is important. We then were able to write down memories of our grandparents and he is going to type them all up for us. Our Grandpa will passed away about 3 years ago and I really think this is the first time the family had gotten together since then to remember what a great man he was and still is. There is a picture of my awesome grandma too. I have really learned to love and admire this women in the last year. I have been going and visiting with her weekly and I have learned so much about her. It is awesome to have the whole family together and to be able to add new memories.
On a totally other note. This is a picture of the front of the house. For the most part this is what it is going to look like. Things are coming together great. Some of our rough plumbing is done and we should be starting our HVAC this week!!!

Rue's B-day

Tonight we celebrated my nephew's b-day he will be turning 13 next week, but he will be at scout camp so we had a party tonight. We all headed to the good old Golden Corral. Every time we eat there it brings back memories of going to the old one with Grandpa Glen and grandma Fern. My hubby bet tay $5 that she could not eat all the food that she had on her plate. She proved him wrong and ate it all she was sick to her stomach but he paid up.
I had to take a picture on the table because it was kind of sick to see all the food that was there. Rue was song to by all of us and many of the staff member. I thought it was funny that the b-day boy wanted such a small piece of his own cake. Little A wanted a roll over a piece of cake. I am not sure that Reg is doing in that picture she wanted me to take it.
All I can say is that Rue got spoiled. He is really big into Air Soft gun and stuff so he got totally set up for that. Oh yea and he got a kick ball too. I can not wait to play a kick ball game on Sunday!

Today we went to Willow Park Zoo. We decided that it should be called the bird zoo. Little A loved it. One of his fav. animals right now is a duck and there are a lot of ducks there. All afternoon he kept saying quack quack. It was so fun to see the Peacock and her babies.
Thanks grandma and Watrins for coming with us.

Fun on the 4th

The 4th of July is my Fav. holiday. I love our country and it means so much to me so a day to honor it is great to me. We decided since it is my fav would would celebrate all week long. We headed up to Bear Lake and spent Tuesday night til Thursday morning there with Kim and her family. I love the lake and it is not the 4th with out a sun burn at bear lake. We went swimming in the pool but in the afternoon it was warm enough to go down to the lake. All the kid and adults love the lake. Below are picture of the 3 kids at the lake.
Thursday Afternoon we headed up to my hubby's family cabin. We spent Thursday night til Saturday afternoon there. The weather was not great so we were inside a lot of the time. Here are some picture of breakfast the Kids all were so good. We tried to get a good picture of all the Grandkids it was not easy but we finally got a few good ones. I love the picture of Little A with Uncle Zach and soon to be Aunt Karli. Little A loves to stand at the top of the stairs at my in laws house and yell ack which is Zach.
I told my hubby that we had to be home in time to see Fireworks, and we were. I thought that Little A would fall asleep on the way out out but he did not he stayed awake the whole time and loved the fireworks. We just sat in the back of our truck for Little A could run and play. It was cold so we were all bundled up so I did not get a picture of the fireworks.

Here are some picture of Little A 4th of July outfit he wore it to church the next day instead of the fireworks since it was so cold.
